Based in District Almora, Sheetalakhet or Sitlakhet is located about 35 kms from Almora and 24 kms from Ranikhet. Geographically it lies nearly in the middle between Ranikhet to the left and Almora on the right. From Sitlakhet you get an amazing view of the 300-350 km Himalayan range. Just about 4 kms. from Sitalakhet is the famous temple of Syahi Devi, which is the presiding goddess, worshipped by the local people. Just 2 kms below Sitalakhet is the village Khoont, which is the ancestral village of late Pt. Govind Vallabh Pant, freedom fighter & former Home Minister of India.
